鈴木ヒラクは、現在、東京を拠点に活動している。彼の活動はドローイングをベースとしながら、インスタレーション、壁画、映像、ライブペインティングなど多様な展開を見せている。その作品の多くは、日常のささやかな場や現象に潜在する形、記憶、リズム、素材を進化させた膨大な記号から成る。それらは現代の都市から発掘された未知の言語のようであり、見るものに原始的で未来的な感覚を呼び起こす。彼の作品は金沢21 世紀美術館に収蔵されている他、これまでに日本、ボリビア、スウェーデン、ニューヨーク、ノルウェー、オーストラリア、ブラジルなどで多数の展覧会に参加。2006年にはパリのギャラリー デュ ジュールのプロジェクト・ルームで展示を行った。「GENGA」は、鈴木ヒラクの初の作品集で、1000以上のドローイングが掲載されたポケットサイズの画集である。「GENGA」という語を掲載した新しい辞書があるならば、そこには「原画」、「言語」と「銀河」という注釈が付くだろう。
