2009年、ジャック・タチの「ぼくの伯父さん」シリーズ第2作「ぼくの伯父さんの夏」が、とうとう修復を終えて公開された。写真化学とデジタル技術を駆 使してオリジナルネガから映像と音を修復したもの。タチは、ギャグを加えたり、カットしたりして、何度も作品をリメイクしており、今までに編集された3つ のバージョンが過去に３度公開されている。１度目が1953年。ピエール・エテックスがポスターを担当した2度目が1962年。そして1978年の3度目 のバージョンには「ジョーズ」にヒントを得てカヌーとサメがビーチに向かってくるシーンが新たに付け加えられている。今回はタチの希望でこの1978年版 が修復された。音の修復には特に細心の注意が払われ、タチ自身が何度も音の再編集に立ち会い、なおも彼独特の表現方法と極めて緻密なトーンを追求した。修 復版は2009年カンヌ映画祭に出品され、7月1日から劇場公開された。
このプロジェクトは映画・テレビ遺産のためのトムソン基金と、映画のためのグルパマ・ガン基金、そしてシネマテック・フランセーズの協賛のもとに実現した。
